Stories from the lab

The Pressure Sensor Problem

First-year engineering student

He came in wanting a weight-measuring system — pressure sensor, platform, display. Three days in: inconsistent readings. Half a day was spent fixing it in code. The real problem was mechanical — the platform was flexing slightly. The solution was a different platform, not more code.

Debugging · Mechanical intuition

A Class That Had Never Seen a Microcontroller

Teacher training workshop — 12 participants

None of the teachers had prior experience with electronics. By noon, half the group had an LED blinking. By 3pm, one teacher was asking about data logging for her science class. The fastest learners were the ones most comfortable asking "basic" questions.

Teacher training · Hands-on learning

A School Exhibition Project That Kept Growing

Grade 10 student

She came in for a weather station project for her school exhibition. Four weeks later it was logging temperature, humidity, and air pressure every 15 minutes. Six months later she added rainfall measurement. We just helped her get the sensor readings right.

Student curiosity · Scope expansion
